GARDNER — Theatre at the Mount Director Gail Steele has announced auditions for “The Drowsy Chaperone” to be held Tuesday, Dec. 11 and Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. sharp, in room 182 at Mount Wachusett Community College.

The cast requires seven men, five women and a small ensemble of 6-10 men and women. Music director is Robert Healy, and choreographer is Amanda Lawton.

No appointment needed — punctuality will be noted.

A modern day musical theatre addict drops the needle on his favorite LP — the 1928 musical comedy, “The Drowsy Chaperone.”  From the crackle of his hi-fi, the musical magically bursts to life on-stage telling the tale of a pampered Broadway starlet who wants to give up show business to get married, her producer who sets out to sabotage the nuptials, her chaperone, the debonair groom, the dizzy chorus girl, the Latin lover and a pair of gangsters who double as pastry chefs.

Performance Dates:  Feb. 28, 29, March 6, 7 at 8 p.m. and March 8 at 2 p.m. The tentative rehearsal schedule is Sundays from 2-5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-10 p.m.

For the auditions all should:

■Prepare a short vocal selection that displays range and ability preferably from the show (score will be available). Sheet music required if you decide to do a song not from the show. An accompanist will be provided.

■Wear comfortable clothing for a dance audition.

■Bring tap shoes if interested in select tap roles (Robert and George)

■Cold-readings from script for key roles
