ATHOL — The Athol Council on Aging will host The Savvy Caregiver program, a training program facilitated by Christopher Chagnon from LifePath, Inc., beginning Thursday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m.  The free 6-week session is intended for family and friends who are actively caring for those living with Alzheimer’s or related dementias.

Taking care of a person living with Alzeimer’s or related dementia is specialized work. To do this work successfully, caregivers need specialized skills, knowledge, and a positive attitude that helps them care for themselves. This program will help you understand the impact of dementia on both you and the person in your care; learn the skills you need to manage daily life; take control and set goals; communicate more effectively; strengthen family resources, feel better about your caregiving and take care of yourself.

Space is limited and registration is required by contacting the Council office at 978-249-8986.
