Athol Police Log: July 10-11

Wednesday, July 10

12:58 a.m. — Report of heavy smoke in are of Starrett Avenue. Engine/pumper investigated.

2:14 a.m. — E-911 caller requesting police assistance with an intoxicated individual, Main Street.

2:17 a.m. — Metropolitan Court party reporting a male in his 60s banging on her door and smashing a road sign into her vehicles in the driveway. Arrested Scott D. Rocci, 57, of Metropolitan Court, Athol, on charges of defacement of personal property, assault with a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace.

7:53 a.m. — Motor vehicle accident, Morton Meadows. Mart Bus Company is reporting a minor fender bender between one of their buses and a pickup truck. A 1987 Ford F250 operated by Jackie C. Stafford, of Morton Meadows, Athol, and bus operated by Douglas W. Carey of Orange, were involved. 

10:03 a.m. — E-911 caller requesting police assistance with a landlord-tenant dispute, Crescent Street.

11:09 a.m. — Report of possible abandoned vehicle, Union and Main streets. Vehicle found to be active and lawfully parked.

12:39 p.m. — Party to speak with officer regarding issues with neighbor, Cottage Street. Ongoing neighbor dispute; advised of Harassment Prevention Order (HARPO) through court.

7 p.m. — Wellington Street party states she is locked out of her bedroom. Can’t find key to door. Does not want door forced open; will look for other key.

7:07 p.m. — Caller reporting eight (plus) young kids fighting in the street, Main Street. Also received multiple 911 calls for the disturbance. Officer spoke with four individuals who had gotten into a verbal altercation with an individual. All four individuals stated the party came after and struck first. After the four walked away a male who was at the bar next to the YMCA came out to confront male party for fighting. The male was struck by a belt but does not want to press charges.

7:42 p.m. — Report of property damage, Congress Street.

8:36 p.m. — Caller states there are two females walking on South Main Street (area of Carlin) and one is in and out of traffic. Officer requesting ambulance to their location for female party for evaluation. Subjects identified. One party refused care and was sent on way in custody of friend.

9:23 p.m. — Party in lobby appears to be confused and trying to get to a friend’s house on the other side of the bridge. Party was provided courtesy transport to family residence on Exchange Street. Family asked that party be transported to the hospital.

Thursday, July 11

12:07 a.m. — Caller requesting to speak to officer about being harassed, Hampstead Place. 

1:56 a.m. — Assisted citizen, Templeton Road. Caller requesting that an officer check the property based on a message that she received.

5:37 a.m. — Motor vehicle crash, West Royalston Road. Caller reporting they just struck a deer. Minor damage to the vehicle and no injuries reported.

9:07 a.m. — Walk-in requested officer assist her while she serves a no trespass order, Main Street. Officer stood by; party was not home at this time.

9:12 a.m. — Walk-in requested a welfare check on a party she hasn’t seen in a month, Main Street. Party contacted and found to be fine.

9:14 a.m. — Officer investigating a wire issue, Ridge Avenue. Cable wire tied off to a pole, no longer a hazard. Spectrum contacted.

9:51 a.m. — Animal complaint, Orange Street. Barking dog; ongoing issue.

10:20 a.m. — CSO seeks welfare check on Prospect Street party that made some Q5 statements. Negative contact with party.

11:37 a.m. — Caller asked to speak with officer about restraining order violation, Partridgeville Road. Advised of options.

12:44 p.m. — Suspicious vehicle, Park Street. Party reporting possible abandoned vehicle parked in front of residence. 

3:37 p.m. — Officer out with a vehicle that has been parking on a sidewalk, Crescent Street.

6:13 p.m. — 911 caller reporting neighbor cut down shed and is now burning it, Chestnut Hill Avenue.

6:18 p.m — Party in lobby to speak to officer about neighbor dispute, Orange Street.

7:43 p.m. — Party requests officer to Central Street and remove his father-in-law’s girlfriend.

10:51 p.m. — Officers requesting EMS to Pine Street location for an evaluation of a female party involved in a domestic.

11:19 p.m. — Main Street caller requesting to speak with officer about getting a restraining order. Party stated her ex-boyfriend is calling, texting and emailing her harassing messages. Situation did not meet emergency 209A requirements and party was advised to seek a HARPO at Orange District Court the following day.

11:23 p.m. — Central Street caller requesting assistance with an unwanted person at the residence. Officers spoke with all subjects involved. No action taken.
