Athol Police Log: May 25-26

Saturday, May 25

3:11 p.m. — Officer advising that objects fell out of the back of a truck and he is standing by for traffic, Main and Chestnut Hill Avenue.

3:44 p.m. — 911 caller reporting two females yelling and swearing at each other, Prospect Street.

4:27 p.m. — 911 caller from Silver Lake Beach reporting group of juveniles trying to start a fight with a male party and his 1-year-old.

5:06 p.m. — 911 for 90-year-old female with edema of the leg, Daniel Shays Highway.

5:07 p.m. — 911 for male party who was driving down a road from Royalston and then got stuck somewhere in the woods in Athol. Party not injured, just stuck. Stated he has a tent and food to stay the night if he needs to. Royalston assisting with their UTV. Winchendon dispatch advised that Environmental Police Officer is en route.

5:21 p.m. — Walk-in reported his neighbor shook his finger at him and yelled at him, Wallingford Avenue.

5:41 p.m. — Larceny, Lake Street. Stolen medications.

5:44 p.m. — Barking dog complaint, Pleasant Street.

6:10 p.m. — Report of suspicious vehicle, Thrower Road.

6:21 p.m. — Main Street, accident. Caller reporting a black truck side-swiped a mirror of a parked vehicle in front of Athol House of Pizza. Detective Buck provided a registration of the vehicle that left the scene. The operator of the offending vehicle states he did not know he hit the mirror. Parties exchanged information.

6:37 p.m. — Walk-in asked to speak with officer in regard to her 19-year-old daughter doing drugs.

7:03 p.m. — Ambulance to Chase Road for 72-year-old/lift assist.

7:23 p.m. — Officer Fuller from Fitzwilliam NH Police Department seeking assistance. Asked that Athol officer to go Winthrop Street and make contact to see who was driving a vehicle that crashed in his town and took off from the crash and have driver contact him.

9:03 p.m. — Pleasant Street caller reporting five gun shots and still continuing around the area. Athol fire department believes it to be fireworks.

9:19 p.m. — 911 caller reporting red pickup truck has been parked in the lot for seven hours, South Main Street; requested welfare check on the female party in her 50s wearing a white shirt.

10:14 p.m. — Exchange Street caller reporting intoxicated female party who refuses to leave.

Sunday, May 26

7:47 a.m. — Jenkins Hearing held in staion. Probable cause found on prisoner for charge of receiving stolen property over $1,200. Transported to Franklin County House of Corrections.

12:05 p.m. — Report of mini bike speeding, driver without helmet and no plates, South Athol Road. Area checked, no contact.

12:58 p.m. — Caller reporting syringe on Kennebunk Street at Main Street.

1:17 p.m. — Erratic operator reported, Silver Lake Street. Negative contact.

2:33 p.m. — Medical emergency, Allen Street. 6-year-old male having epileptic seizure.

2:34 p.m. — Property damage reported. Group of six youths breaking windows in the old factory, South street. Area checked, negative contact. Unknown of the glass breaking was bottles near the building or windows, as the building is in such disrepair.

2:42 p.m. — Wellington Street party in lobby in regard to money she let tenant borrow that is not being repaid. Advised she will have to take the tenant to court for the $25.

3:06 p.m. — Twichell Street caller reporting big snake in his yard that he needs officer’s assistance to take are of. Garter snake sent on way.

3:38 p.m. – Caller states that six kids came out of an abandoned house and it sounded like they were smashing up the house, Cottage Street. Appeared middle school age and headed down Cottage Street.

3:42 p.m. — Party calling regarding a 10-year-old male throwing rocks and sticks at her and refusing to stop, Partridgeville Road.

3:45 p.m. — Medical emergency, Main Street. Caller reporting party nodding off in vehicle.

3:45 p.m. — Parties in lobby reporting a female is continuing to harass her, Main Street. Left prior to officer’s arrival.

4:15 p.m. — State Police reporting unattended death, Chase Road. Health care provider is on scene and there is a DNR.

4:15 p.m. — Ambulance to Silver Lake Street for 67-year-old male bleeding from his left ear that he cut on glass.

5:43 p.m. — Elizabeth Street caller reporting same mini bike from earlier was speeding down street without helmet and no plates.

6:12 p.m. — Ambulance to School Street for 75-year-old male with altered mental status. Transported to Athol Hospital.

6:51 p.m. — Report of loud stereo down the end of Central Street.

7:04 p.m. — Caller states she believes someone broke into the bowling alley, Main Street. Looks like door was forced open and she sees flashlights.

7:16 p.m. — Suspicious activity. Party in lobby reporting a van he noticed outside of Market Basket. Vehicle idling and it looked like driver was taking videos of people.

7:40 p.m. — Report of smell of trash burning, Wallingford Avenue. Nothing found.

8:03 p.m. — Silver Lake Street caller reporting a gun went off by her house. Shook whole house. Received a second call for the sound of an explosion in the same area.

8:41 p.m. — Main Street caller reporting fireworks in area of bridge and park.

9:34 p.m. — Nurse at hospital requesting officer pick up a rape kit for Greenfield Police Department.

10:09 p.m. — 911 call for water and sewage coming out of the left side of building and leaking into the basement, Marble Street. Department of public works notified.

10:17 p.m. – State Police requesting assistance from police and EMS for a fight, South Street. Party transported to hospital.
