Athol Police Log: Oct 15

Tuesday, Oct. 15

7:40 a.m. — Suspicious activity, Riverbend Street. Caller reporting someone is in the building. Searched building with K9 Gronk; no one inside.

7:59 a.m. — Initiated drill, Main Street. School resource officer and three other officers conducted drill.

9 a.m. — Property damage, Main Street. Caller reporting someone keeps hitting his building. Advised of options and possible solutions to an ongoing problem.

9:48 a.m. — Fire department conducted fire alarm test, Main Street.

10:21 a.m. — Fax received from bus company for vehicle passing bus on Oct. 15. Officer will follow up with the operator, South Main Street.

10:22 a.m. — Bus company reporting vehicle that passed the bus on Oct. 11, School Street.

10:23 a.m. — Motor vehicle complaint, White Pond Road. Report from bus company faxing vehicle passing bus while stop sign was out.

11:04 a.m. — Follow-up investigation, Freedom Street.

11:22 s.m. — Suspicious activity, Gibson Drive.

11:34 a.m. — Animal complaint, New Sherborn Road. Looking for injured animal.

11:58 a.m. — Welfare check requested, School Street. Meals on Wheels requesting well being check on female who has not answered phone or canceled her meal. Party in question was not home.

12:20 p.m. — Caller advising mental health evaluation needed on student at high school, currently walking away followed by two counselors, Main Street. Officer advising that state police has him detained.

12:29 p.m. — Officer out with found dog that was never reported, Swanzey Street.

12:31 p.m. — Loose dog, Sanders Street.

1:51 p.m. — School Resource Officer assisted with a lockdown drill, Pleasant Street.

2:39 p.m. — Officer conducting follow-up investigation, Templeton Road.

4:06 p.m. — Main Street; bus company reporting an accident between an Athol school bus and a Deerfield District bus. Company stating no injuries, but there were students on the Deerfield bus when it happened. All students on the Deerfield bus were evaluated by Athol Fire Department and parents were contacted. Operators involved were: George G. Roberge of Turners Falls Road, Montague, and Kathryn S. Collins of Laurel Street, Winchendon. The operator of the Deerfield bus was issued a citation.

5:06 p.m. — Report of disabled motor vehicle in the middle of South Main Street, white Toyota pickup. Truck moved into a driveway.

5:31 p.m. — Drug law violation. Landlord has concerns that tenant is dealing drugs from one of his apartments. Landlord and other tenants see people on foot and vehicles making quick stops in and out at all hours, Prospect Street.

7:20 p.m. — Suspicious activity, Pinedale and Pequoig avenues. Male calling to report there are people with flashlights at a new house being built down the hill from him and whenever someone drives by they shut the lights off. Property checked; everything appears to be in order.

8:29 p.m. — Barking dog complaint, Chestnut Street. Quiet on arrival.

10:01 p.m. — Animal complaint, Main Street. Report of a dog in a vehicle that’s been there a while and it looks cold. Officer stated vehicle is occupied; dog is all set.
