Athol Police Log: June 17-18

Monday, June 17

8:45 a.m. — Greenwood Terrace; multiple calls for a dog that attacked another dog.

9:09 a.m. — Motor vehicle crash involving vehicles operated by Francis A. Cacciolfi, East River Street, Orange, and William H. Oldach, Daniel Shays Highway, Athol. Cacciolfi was attempting to park, sideswiped Oldach’s front left bumper area with his right front fender. Cacciolfi was cited.

10:16 a.m. — Officer came upon vehicle parked on bad corner, South Main Street. Subject picking up someone moved along.

10:25 a.m. — Suspicious vehicle, Colonial Drive. Caller states white vehicle with male and female walking around his property. Spoke with religious group and advised of complaint.

10:35 a.m. — Follow-up from dog complaint earlier, Greenwood Terrace.

12:35 p.m. — Welfare check, Main Street. Officer attempted to locate party in question, appears she no longer resides at location. Officer will be on the lookout for same.

12:37 p.m. — Party looking to pick up his property as there is a restraining order in effect, Main Street. Officer contacted plaintiff and she stated subject can’t get his stuff. Officer asked her when he can get it, and she stated on his next court date (a month away). Party was advised to return to court and file a motion.

1:33 p.m. — Officer came across a disabled motor vehicle while on patrol, Pequoig Avenue and Fish Street. Dale’s notified to remove the vehicle.

1:53 p.m. — Caller states male followed her back to the bank and began yelling at her for putting trash “in his trashcan” on Main Street.

3:06 p.m. — Officers executed search warrant, Exchange Street.

3:48 p.m. — Officer conducting extra patrols, Silver Lake Beach.

4:22 p.m. — Main Street party in lobby requesting escort to retrieve belongings.

4:33 p.m. — Officers attempted to serve a restraining order, Main Street. Paperwork served and property retrieval refused. Party refused to allow defendant on property to retrieve belongings and stated she would see him at the hearing tomorrow.

4:57 p.m. — Suspicious person, Exchange Street. Officer spoke with Daily News staff; no issue with youths in back of property.

5:01 p.m. — Notice of by-law violation issued, White Pond Road.

5:27 p.m. — Town hall maintenance calling to report kids on scooters that were asked to leave and they won’t leave, Main Street. Parties advised to move along and sent on way.

6:12 p.m. — Child at Risk Hotline calling for a 4- or 5-year-old female that was witnessed being thrown to the ground by her father, Pequoig Avenue. Officer spoke with party and all appeared well, no sign of injury of abuse. Also spoke with grandmother to confirm. Spoke with DCF Hot Line who wanted a call back.

6:13 p.m. — Loose dog, Cottage Street.  None loose on arrival. Spoke to possible owner of dog, advised of laws.

6:27 p.m. — Report of goats out and trampling garden, Moore Hill Road. All animals secure on arrival.

6:47 p.m. — Report of water leaking from a drain in the middle of Fairview Avenue. Water Department notified.

7:13 p.m. — Officers out checking Silver Lake beach.

7:15 p.m. — Suspicious activity, Pequoig Avenue. Officer spotted a lot of smoke coming from a house near the Legion. Looked like they are burning chairs in a fire pit. Spoke with homeowner; fire was in a controlled pit. Advised to let fire burn out.

7:23 p.m. — South Street caller reporting neighbor is peeling out every time he leaves the house and speeds down the road. Caller is worried about the kids that play outside. Area checked.

7:55 p.m. — Report of a suspicious male party in his 60s walking sideways down the road toward town with a white tank top and black hat, South Athol Road. Party was picked up by a green SUV and driving toward town.

8 p.m. — Officer was informed of a vehicle speeding up and down the road, South Royalston Road.

8:26 p.m. — Hazard, Main Street. Officers investigating needles left behind the business. Owner of Athol House of Pizza flagged down officers over concerns of needles at rear of property. Appears needles are being thrown out of attached apartment building in rear.

8:48 p.m. — Anonymous party turned in cell phone he heard ringing on side of South Athol Road.

8:50 p.m. — Disabled motor vehicle, Pleasant and Main streets. Pushed onto Main and coasted to the gas station.

9:04 p.m. — Extra patrol at Silver Lake Beach.

9:22 p.m. — 911 for neighbors coming onto property and taking stuff out of the garden, Sanders Street.

9:43 p.m. — Report of suspicious person, Main Street. Spoke with individual and advised to stay in front of library after hours.

10:30 p.m. — Athol Fire Department requested a tone for a still alarm for an alarm sounding, Park Street.

10:36 p.m. — Noise complaint, Drury Avenue. Report of loud metal music playing for the last two and a half hours. Received another noise complaint about a gentleman screaming and breaking glass.

11:12 p.m. — Party calling for a white pitbull he has tied up and does not know who it belongs to, Cailan Way. He could meet officer at the pound.

11:21 p.m. — Suspicious activity, Summit Avenue. Caller reporting strange noises coming from her driveway. Nothing found.

11;23 p.m. — Party calling from Athol Hospital with a broken ankle who needs a ride home. Transported.

Tuesday, June 18

12:44 a.m. — Community policing, Silver Lake Beach and DPW property. No problems.

2:14 a.m. — E-911 caller is reporting she just received a message on Facebook including a photo of a gun from an upset individual who she feels is going to come to her workplace and shoot her. Officer spoke with party; she states no direct threats were made. She has multiple messages from male party, after video chat, where he is upset about them splitting up. Does not know where he is currently staying. Officers will BOLO and check the parking lot throughout the shift. Officer checked apartment and second officer checked reporting party’s childrens’ location. No sign of male. Officer will check the parking lot before she goes to her vehicle.

5:56 a.m. — E-911 caller reporting someone just showed up at her place of employment possibly trying to do her harm, Daniel Shays Highway. Subject gone on arrival.

7:14 a.m. — Daniel Shays Highway; officer conducted extra patrols around the time party leaves work as she was concerned that her ex-boyfriend may show up.

8:36 a.m. — Caller reporting her dog was attacked by another dog while walking on Silver Lake Beach. Info gathered for Animal Control.

8:37 a.m. — School Street; female states she came home from work and her apartment is destroyed. Male has since left residence.

8:44 a.m. — Orange requesting Pitman Road person call the police station; subject not home. Message left with husband.

9:32 a.m. — Ambulance to Exchange Street for party unable to ambulate.

10:13 a.m. — Visiting nurse on scene requesting ambulance for male with altered mental status.

12:25 p.m. — Officer to Pequoig Avenue on follow up on earlier dog bite.

12:46 p.m. — Party to station requesting information on ATV laws; Lyons Hill Road.

1:18 p.m. — Main Street, disturbance. Quabbin Valley Dental reporting two boys that keep banging on their windows and when they go out there to ask them to stop they state it is not them. One boy is wearing a red top with black and red shorts and the second with a white top with jeans.

1:31 p.m. — Party reporting she just came  home and her TV is missing, Walnut Street. Under investigation.

2:24 p.m. — Report of dog in vehicle with all windows closed, Tower Road.
