ORANGE — Office hours for the Council on Aging office, located at 135 East Main St., are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Closed on Fridays.
Fuel Assistance recertification applications are being received and people new to fuel assistance can apply on Nov. 1. Income limits are: $37,360 for a family of one; and $48,855 for a family of two. Those who are eligible for assistance are asked to call 978-544-3481 to make an appointment.
The Annual Medicare Open Enrollment begins on Oct. 15 and runs through Dec. 7. It is recommended that Medicare beneficiaries check their plan during this period to see if there may be a better plan or a better cost savings plan available. Seniors how have questions or would like to meet with the COA are asked to give them a call.

■Oct. 16 — Popcorn and a Movie, 1 p.m., sponsored by the Friends of the Council on Aging. “Hocus Pocus” a 1993 Walt Disney fantasy comedy-horror drama, starring Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker. Popcorn and juice serviced.
■Oct. 19 — Community Breakfast, 7:30-10 a.m. — Orange Senior Center. Garden frittata, pumpkin pancakes, bacon, baked goods, juice and coffee. $5 adults; $2.50 for children under 5.
■Nov. 2 — Paint & Sip with Alice Mauck, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., to benefit the Friends of the Council on Aging. $40 per person; $35 for seniors 60 and older. Must sign up by Oct. 26 in the elder outreach office. Check or money order may be sent to Alice Mauck, 7 Church St., Gardner MA 01440.

GO Cards The Orange COA has received a small grant for fixed RTE’s or Demand Response FRTA Go Cards. Call 978-544-3481 to apply. Applicants must meet the following criteria: be an Orange resident, 60 years or older who currently feels/is alone or isolated; complete an application (priority will be given to new applicants); live alone and not have access to social events or programs or a private means of transportation; would like to shop or visit events in Athol/Orange/Greenfield or take part in COA events and meals at the armory.
Franklin Regional Transit Authority New Service Hours
Service hours for Demand Response have been expanded for the towns of Orange, New Salem, Warwick and Wendell to Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Greenfield, Gill, Montague, Leyden, Deerfield and Whately service hours increased Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information contact FRTA at 413-774-2262 or 413-773-8090.
