ATHOL — Haley’s announces publication of “Bounty Now and Forever • Vitality of Formation • a parent’s guide to Catholic Catechism” by Kathleen Bennett of Templeton.

Chair of the religious education board at Holy Cross Church in Templeton, Bennett and her seven board peers considered declining attendance at parish catechism classes and decided to address parents.

“I have long considered myself a writer,” Bennett said, “and prayed for the right writing project. I’d ask myself, ‘What is my message? Who is my audience?’”

She said the idea of writing the guide came to her in response to concerns of the religious education board. She brought the idea to Pastor Patrick Ssekyole, who immediately approved.

“I wanted the book to be half inspirational and half informational,” Bennett said. “I felt the conviction writing it constituted something I’m meant to do.”

Bounty Now and Forever discusses faith, morality, defense of faith, and context for Catholic belief. It then presents information about the Catholic mass, sacraments, common prayers, and the rosary with lists of the ten commandments and parables, texts of prayers, and websites the author deems potentially helpful to parents.

Bennett and the religious education committee have distributed books to parents in the Holy Cross parish. The book is available at Haley’s in Athol and at online vendors.
