Orange Police Log: Aug. 12

Monday, Aug. 12

9 a.m. — Officer to Tully Road to regulate overweight motor vehicle on bridge. None found.

9:41 a.m. — Party looking to speak with officer in regard to a call from Aug. 11 about shots fired. Information provided.

9:41 a.m. — Caller states black VW passing on double yellows, passing tractor trailer units, tailgating, all while on the phone. Vehicle located and stopped on Route 202. No impairment noted. Operator was educated on safe driving and given a verbal warning for the violation.

10:19 a.m. — Blodgett Street caller states his oil tank is leaking. Oil company advised him to call the fire department. Command requests the Department of Environmental Protection be notified. There is a half talk of oil with a 3 by 3-foot section of dirt which is soaked in oil. Tank is still leaking slowly. Orange Fire Department notified.

10:57 a.m. — Caller states subject is operating a four-wheeler with a child on the back and neither are wearing helmets, Wheeler Avenue. Area checked, negative contact.

11:35 a.m. — Center Drive caller asked to speak with officer about numerous phone calls received from party. Caller states he had an argument with subject on Saturday where police responded and since then has left and does not want any contact with her and she is now contacting his boss. Provided options going forward. Subject contacted and advised of the complaint and she was also provided with her options as she is looking for subject to help her.

12:24 p.m. — Male caller inquiring where his property is from the arrest last night, Congress Street. Officer looked at the property log and advised police have his cigarettes and that’s it. Party stated he contacted the Franklin House of Correction and confirmed they have his belongings.

1:59 p.m. — Harassment issue. Officer wanted, East Main Street. Caller states subject threw a full bottle of iced tea at her leg and it hurt her. Party is back in her apartment. Officer spoke with both parties; advised to avoid each other as clearly they do not get along. Both understood. 258E order was explained.

2:30 p.m. — South Main Street party to station with a check he received in the mail fro a company claiming to be mystery shopper. They wanted him to use the check to buy Ebay gift cards, scratch the #’s and email them a picture of the cards. The check did not have a correct routing number. Caller is not any money; check was shredded.

3:32 p.m. — Caller advises she was out walking and a dog ran after her and tried to bite her ankle. The dog came from the first house on East Road on the left right after the Ward Road intersection. Dog was a medium sized light-colored dog. There was another dog with it, but he did not leave the driveway. Dog officer notified.

6:36 p.m. — Report of party burning something that smells like plastic or trash, lot of smoke, ongoing issue. Cheney Street. Illegal burn investigated. Officers assisted fire department. 

9:35 p.m. — Harassment, East Main street. Caller reporting party is texting and harassing them. Investigated.

10:04 p.m. — Motor vehicle accident with injuiry, East Main Street. 911 caller eporting his mother was in the passenger seat when her car was hit about 10 minutes ago and almost killed his brother and mom. Advises there are no fluids and the driver “dipped.” officer requested Athol Ambulance mutual aid.  At 10:07, call received from party on East Main Street of a fist fight taking place; kids running all over the place. At 10:20 officer advised there was a parked car involved, and a telephone pole was also struck. Call back made to reporting party at the request of the officer to inquire about the fight. No answer. Command advises Athol fire transporting three patients. A 28-year-old Orange resident was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving scene of property damage, marked lanes violation, two charges of reckless endangerment of a child. A 41-year-old Orange resident will be summonsed to court on two charges of reckless endangerment of a child.

10:22 p.m. — Report of suspicious person, South Main Street. White male, 40s possibly bald, heavyset wearing a white t-shirt walking around the perimeter of the school with a flashlight looking in the windows. Party saw him while skating there. Unable to locate.
