Athol Police Log: July 18

Thursday, June 18

7:59 a.m. — Party reports downed wire across the top of a vehicle parked on the side of Allen Street.

8:08 a.m. — Officer monitored traffic for violations of the “no left turn” posting, Templeton Road. 

9:12 a.m. — Probation calling for a welfare check on Cottage Street party who missed a drug screening. Contact made and party will contact probation.

10:41 a.m. — Party reporting open doors, Hillside Terrace. Building searched, no one inside. Secured and followed up with the fire department to inventory and resecure the building.

10:47 a.m. — Party reporting disturbance, landlord damaging their boat, Wallingford Avenue. Verbal only. Landlord told tenant to remove boat from front lawn due to lawn damage and having to mow. Tenant refused to move boat so landlord did it for them. Advised tenant of court options for any damage they believe was caused, and Harassment Prevention Order options. Advised landlord to try to stay away from tenant as much as possible. Tenant departed the property while officer on scene.

11:09 am. — Party inquiring about belongings that have been left at her house from when her niece lived with her, Lake Street. Civil issue.

11:34 a.m. — Animal complaint, Estabrook Street. Party stated she was walking her dog and a dog attacked both of them.

11:50 a.m. — Party would like to retrieve his property from Gibson Drive address. Officer escorted party there to get belongings.

11:55 p.m. — Party in lobby about a chair that broke during a previous call, South Street.

12:55 p.m. — Party requested traffic be stopped at the lights for a funeral procession. Done.

1:34 p.m. — Party in lobby to report someone stealing money, Main Street. Party will gather evidence and statements and return to the station.

1:42 p.m. — Male party ran into officer outside the station and stated he is in pain and has fluid in his legs, Exchange Street. Ambulance requested.

2:07 p.m. — General fire alarm activated at Athol Hospital. Unfounded.

2:09 a.m — Disturbance, Wallingford Avenue. Third party call - owner of residence called saying issue with threatening other tenants, but he was not on the scene. Spoke with party on arrival - stated no current issues; they had words with a tenant about two hours ago but no threats. No tenants answered the door. Unfounded.

2:28 p.m. — Animal complaint, Cottage Street. Raccoon in the dumpster.

3:27 p.m. — South Athol Road caller reporting he hit a fox last night and put it in his garage. It is still alive with both back legs broken. Officer has fox; animal was dispatched.

3:40 p.m. — South Athol Road; officer was flagged down by a female party stating her two dogs got out. Assisted; 51A filed.

4:13 p.m. — Caller states he was assaulted by a male party Monday and the party will now not leave his house, Pine Street. Party was advised of court options. Party stated he will go to court the following day to press his own charges against a tenant. 

4:42 p.m. — Central Street; subject to lobby to speak to officer regarding retrieving his belongings from his brother’s home. Assisted.

4:53 p.m. — Parking violation, Main and Union streets. Report of motor vehicle parked on the corner for three weeks without moving. Officer spoke with owner of vehicle and advised him of the complaint. Vehicle was not a road hazard and did not affect the flow of traffic.

5:12 p.m. — Motor vehicle accident, Brookside Road. A vehicle operated by Kateri S. Hardy, of Pelham, was getting gas when it was struck by a vehicle operated by Dana Robinson.

6:02 p.m. — Main Street; Party in lobby to report that all of her hubcaps were stolen while she was at work between 1 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Officer advised an incident report will be available to her.

6:18 p.m. — Pine Street party calling to report her landlord is trying to kick her and all other tenants out with three days notice. Party advised of her rights.

6:26 p.m. — Pine Street subject into lobby regarding ongoing situation; advised him of court options.

6:40 p.m. — Served restraining order, Riverbend Street.

6:53 p.m. — Gibson Drive caller requesting police, spoke no English, unsure of the exact nature of call. Officers responded, no police assistance necessary.

7:16 p.m. — Pine Street caller states landlord just threatened her and took her Apple TV box. Spoke with parties involved and advised them of their court options.

7:19 p.m. — Riverbend Street; plaintiff into the lobby to speak to officer regarding a restraining order.

7:27 p.m. — Restraining order served in hand, Riverbend Street.

7:50 p.m. — Caller requesting officers meet her at Pine Street address to retrieve her belongings. Assisted.

8:25 p.m. — Ambulance to Orchard Street for 66-year-old bale with bleeding.

9:13 p.m. — Pine Street; caller advised he located a firearm in a tenant’s room. Object located was a pellet gun; no police service.

10:06 p.m. — Motor vehicle stop, Silver Lake Beach. Party advised of operating hours of the beach; sent on way.

10:14 p.m. — Caller reporting personal items missing from their rented room, Pine Street. Officer spoke with party about items missing. Party states items taken were apart of tenant agreement. Items were not actually theirs, but items were believed to belong to party who picked the items up earlier in the day. Officer contacted landlord and advised him that he could potentially be charged with being a keeper of a disorderly home. Officer advised him to see the evictionprocess at court and to get his house in order.

10:24 p.m. — Disabled motor vehicle, Main and Riverbend streets. Out of gas; help arrived and moved along.

10:32 p.m. — State Police requesting BOLO (be on the lookout) in area of Exit 17 and 18 for a motor vehicle with heavy front end damage, and no headlights, involved in a hit and run in Templeton. Unable to locate.

11:47 p.m. — Officer conducting extra patrol of Reservoir Drive area. No problem found.
