ATHOL — Author Chaya Grossberg will give a talk on “Freedom from Psychiatric Drugs” on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. in the Athol Public Library, 568 Main St.

During this presentation, Grossberg will discuss her work consulting with people coming off psychiatric drugs.

Topics covered will include what helps people the most and her other experience working with those in withdrawal from psych meds. She will share wisdom gained from 15 years of professional experience working non-medically with people seeking a variety of alternatives to the mainstream psychiatric paradigm. She will also share from her personal experience of having withdrawn from psychiatric medications herself. There will be time for Q and A so bring your questions!

This event will be interactive. There will be a focus on connection and building peer support networks for people in the process of coming off psychiatric drugs.

Books will be available for purchase. “Freedom From Psychiatric Drugs” is a manual and workbook for psychiatric survivors and their allies, friends, and families.

Grossberg is not a medical practitioner, does not give medical advice, and supports the autonomy of each individual to make their own decisions on when or whether to cease taking psychiatric drugs. She advocates for increased options, support, and safe spaces for people seeking alternatives to psychiatric drugs.

The program is free and open to the public. Registration is required by calling 978-249-9515.

This program is made possible with support from the friends of the Athol Public Library.
