Brass Band concert in Petersham Sunday

PETERSHAM – The Petersham Brass Band will present its fourth concert of the season Sunday at 7:30 p.m. from the Bandstand on Petersham Common. The band will be under the direction of Joseph Goguen who is in his first full season with the band. Sunday’s performance will be the Bands 828th concert since its inception in 1924.

Goguen has chosen the selections for Sunday’s musical offering. Opening with our National Anthem, the band will play the march “Northern Pine” by Sousa. Other marches will include “Midway March” by Williams and “Barnum and Bailey’s Favorites.”

Other selections will include “Theme and Finale” from Pictures at an Exhibition, “Themes from the Nutcracker” arr. by Huckeby, “March to the Movies” arr. by Clark, “Broadway Spectacular” arr. by Higgins, “The Lion King” arr. by Custer, “Mary Poppins” arr. by Kostac, “Mancini” arr. by Reed, and ‘The Sound of Music” arr. by Bennett. Selected popular music will complete the program.

Refreshments will be available at the band hot dog stand. St. Peters Church will host the food sale this week and the Lions Club will be popping popcorn. In the event of rain the concert will move into the Town Hall.
