Objects to $500K override in Orange On Monday, July 29, the town of Orange will vote on a budget override to obtain a half a million dollars, mainly to fund our school system. The plan is to simply raise our taxes to satisfy the town's needs, and everybody will be happy — except the taxpayers!
I object to the proposed override. I think we should be more imaginative. For instance, the sale of the old Butterfield school house with its large playground as a potential parking lot would seem a likely candidate as a medical arts building. And how about a municipal bond?
We should look for alternative ways to raise revenue instead of doing it the quick and easy way — and further burden our taxpayers!
