Orange Police Log: Sept 9-10

Monday, Sept. 9

8:03 a.m. — Suspicious person, Eagleville Road. Party reports person seen in area of her mother’s house. Stated they are familiar with him and are concerned due to history of previous thefts. Gone on arrival.

9:02 a.m. — Caller reporting her stolen phone mapping at Meadow Lane location. Officer reports Meadow Lane is elderly male, phone not there.

9:22 a.m — Suspicious person, Eagleville Road.

2:24 p.m. — Audible fire/smoke alarm, North Main Street. Homeowner reports alarm set off by steam from the shower.

3:10 p.m. — 911 caller advising of a possible deceased party at Fountain Street address. Orange Fire Department responded to scene and declared party deceased. Officer stood by until funeral home personnel arrived on scene.

7:25 p.m. — Structure fire, King Street. Porch fire; mostly out at this time. Reporting party claims it was due to a cigarette. Officer advising it is out at this time. Table fire out on arrival.

7:59 p.m. — Caller reports male wearing a blue sweater and a hat keeps asking people for money outside he is now over at Honey Farms and walking toward the motels. Officer advised party of complaint and to not bother customers at the gas stations. He was headed to Eagleville Road to try and locate a friend. Sent on way.

8:27 p.m. — Suspicious person, Route 202 and Eagleville Road. Caller states male party is back in area and walking into Sunoco. Caller thinks he is casing the area. Unable to locate.

8:31 p.m. — Report of death, Mountain Laurel Road, Wendell.

8:56 p.m. — Power outage, failure, Tully Road. Caller reporting power is out, but wasn’t sure if there was an accident somewhere

Tuesday, Sept. 10

5:52 a.m. — State police took a call regarding a minor crash at the bottom of Exit 16; no injuries .Report taken.

8:03 a.m. — Orange fire units responding to a reported box alarm at Mahar Regional School, South Main Street. Officer on scene, nothing showing. Students have evacuated, engine out investigating. Resetting the alarm.

8:52 a.m. — Report of cat stuck in storm drain, Stone Valley Road. Could not locate.

Drain was found to have a clear exit so it would be able to leave.

9:56 a.m. — Suspicious person, Stone Valley Road. Report of older model silver vehicle parked on the side of the road for a few hours. Male inside vehicle. Vehicle located and male was spoken with; found to live in area. He was having work done to his home so he is just sitting in his vehicle until contractors are finished.

12:21 p.m. — Animal complaint, East Road. Caller states two dogs showed up at her house. ACO notified. Owner picked up.

3:37 p.m. — Caller requests police escort to pick up belongings, Brookside Road. no answer at the door.

4:42 p.m. — Fire alarm, New Athol Road. OFD advised under control, light smoke found in the basement is being ventilated at this time. Store will be closed until further notice. OFD investigation.

5:02 p.m. — Officer responded to a business on Dukakis Drive for drug search with K9 Orka.

5:07 p.m. — Athol Dispatch requesting if Orange can fill a detail for tomorrow for the DPW; two officers needed at Ledges Greenhouse from 7 a.m to 3 p.m. No takers.

6:10 p.m. — Caller with ongoing ATV complaint, Eagleville Road. ATVs ripping up the road and almost hit caller’s car. One is green camouflage and the other is yellow.

7 p.m. — Suspicious person, East River Street. Caller reports a party carrying a clipboard came to her door wanting to know if her provider was all up to date. Party just closed the door and the male walked off toward where the park ends. Gone on arrival.

9:22 p.m. — Prospect Street caller advised he is sick of the kids at the teen center harassing him and pushing him down on his way to Cumberland farms. Caller advised he was going to grab his stick and head back to Cumberland Farms and advises that to catch them, hide in the alley and watch same. Officer spoke to party. He was highly intoxicated and was advised to stay in for the night. Parties near teen center denied touching him.

Wednesday, Sept. 11

2:22 a.m. — Officer wanted, East Main Street. Caller reporting her son just advised that someone was punched in the face and jumped. Unsure if parties are still there of if they need an ambulance; unknown weapons and or drugs/alcohol. Officer asked another officer to return, male party in the background could be heard screaming. Ambulance responded; subject was secured and in the ambulance. Advised Athol police to assist them at the emergency room. Under investigation.

5:42 a.m. — Report of cows in the road, Wheeler Avenue.
