Our climate bill is live in Congress!

Last week the Energy Innovation and Climate Dividend Act of 2018 was co-sponsored by a bipartisan group of Representatives in Congress! This bill closely resembles the “Carbon Fee & Dividend” proposal for which Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL) has been planning, lobbying, and working to enable Congress to legislate for eleven years. There are a few additions, however the big three points of Carbon Fee and Dividend are there in the bill: a steadily increasing fee on fossil fuel production based on greenhouse gas emissions, a full 100 percent rebate of all the money collected (net) as a household dividend, and border carbon adjustments to push our carbon price around the world.

The benefits of this bill are great for New England: more money in our pockets, more jobs, a boost to our economy, and effective bipartisan action to address the main cause of global warming.

Please check out the bill’s website (energyinnovationact.org) for an overview of how the bill works and the positive effects it will have.

The introduction of this bill brings CCL's work to a new level. Now we have real legislation, a bill pending in Congress, to fight for! Now more than ever we need you to help us make this happen! If you are concerned about climate change and have anything from a few minutes a month to a few hours a day to help us cross the finish line, please join us now at cclusa.org/.
