Friday, August 17

12:34 p.m. – A motor vehicle accident with no injuries occurred on South Main Street. On arrival, small scratches were found near the left rear tailgate. The owner of the vehicle stated she wanted the incident on record. 

1:57 p.m. – An individual reported her yellow lab with a blue and orange collar took off from Holtshire Road.

2:10 p.m. – A police officer was out with a male party who forgot where he left his vehicle. After checking the area around North Main Street, the vehicle was found parked in the area of Carrol’s Corner.

2:30 p.m. – Control advised they received a call regarding a two-car motor vehicle accident in the area of the White Cloud Rest on East River Street. Both vehicles were towed.

2:37 p.m. – An operator attempted to take a left turn on Blackington Road and slid due to the wet road conditions. Minor damage was noted.

3:50 p.m. – A call came into the station reporting the storm drains were backed up and was flooding the area on Jones Street. The highway department was advised.

4:15 p.m. – Police assisted the highway department with a water problem on Jones Street and Battle Street.

5:33 p.m. – An individual reported there was a construction sign that was creating a hazard on Whitney Street.

7:30 p.m. – A business on East Main Street requested a police officer for a shoplifter. Jackie C. Stafford, 68, of Athol was charged with shoplifting by asportation and larceny under $250 by false pretense.

8:13 p.m. – An individual reported kids running around and ringing doorbells. The area was searched, negative contact.

8:20 p.m. – An individual advised the Athol Police Department she had a man come to the door asking to use a phone but then was sitting in his car and using a phone. No further description. The individual was advised to call back of the vehicle returned.

10:30 p.m. – A caller reported a loud party on East River Street. The front door was open and the residents were advised to close the door and keep the noise down.

Saturday, August 18

12:39 a.m. – An individual advised there was an unwanted subject on James Lane. An officer arrived on scene and took reports of a past assault and battery, past breaking and entering, past malicious destruction of property and past assualt and battery with a dangerous weapon. The incident is still under investigation.

2:19 a.m. – Josue Jr. Bermudez, 35 of Athol, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop and yield, equipment violation, possession to distribute class B drugs and conspiracy to violate drug law. Kevin Joseph Shaw, 38, of Warwick was charged with possession of cocaine, trafficking in drug, possession to distribute class B drugs and conspiracy to violate drug law.

5:28 a.m. – An individual advised there was a wash out on Haskins Road and Route 2A. The highway department was advised.

8:01 a.m. – Reports of cows in the road in the area of Tully Road. The owner was located at their residence and will respond.

8:30 a.m. – Community policing, police assisted with a 5K race.

10:52 a.m. – An individual advised they were locked out of their vehicle on Quabbin Boulevard. Access was eventually gained.

11:01 a.m. – A caller stated his neighbor took his cat and was not answering the door. The tenant was spoken to and the cat was reunited with the owner.

12:00 p.m. – An individual stated another party has been harassing him. There is an issue regarding money. The party was advised of the complaint and told to stay off the individual’s property.

2:51 p.m. – A motor vehicle operator was given a warning for their inspection not meeting RMV standards on Prentiss Street.

5:38 p.m. – An individual advised he had a sick looking cat hanging around West Main Street. Animal control was advised.

6:08 p.m. – An off duty officer advised there was what appeared to be a modified car on South Main Street being filmed by a drone. Once in the area contact was made with the operator of the vehicle and the person filming him. There was no evidence of improper operation.

8:37 p.m. – A caller inquired whether or not someone turned in a debit card to the station. The caller believes she left her card in the ATM machine on New Athol Road.

8:50 p.m. – A motor vehicle operator was stopped for speeding on East River Street and issued a warning for the violation.

9:56 p.m. – Community policing in the center of town.

Sunday, August 18

12:32 a.m. – A motor vehicle operator was stopped on East River Street for operating an unregistered vehicle. 

6:13 a.m. – An officer responded to East Main Street and spoke to the female caller who stated that she wanted an individual to leave her house. She stated he was being loud and throwing things. An officer made contact with the male party. He was advised that he needed to leave the residence. The male eventually left the scene.

7:04 a.m. – An officer arrived to East Main Street and spoke with the same person who was advised to leave earlier in the morning. The male party was placed in protective custody. 

9:58 a.m. – An individual stated he was mowing the lawn and heard a tree fall on Briggs Street. The individual cleaned up some branches but stated the tree is hanging on other trees and needed someone to check on it.

11:03 a.m. – A motor vehicle operator was stopped on East River Street for speeding.

11:06 a.m. – An individual reported a missing black and tan dog named Sheba with a pink collar with tags on East Main Street. The dog was eventually found.

11:32 a.m. – An individual reported being outside on Oaklawn Avenue with her two children and needing an officer to stand by while she gets items out of the house. An officer stood by to keep the peace.

12:14 p.m. – A motor vehicle operator was stopped on East Main Street  for failing to meet RMV safety inspection.

1:42 p.m. – A man came into the station with what appeared to be a picture of a bomb that was found in his basement. All units responded to Ball Street to secure the area. MSP bomb squad responded and checked the material. No threat was found.

3:03 p.m. – An individual came to the station stating his dog got loose earlier and attacked his neighbor’s chicken. He explained that he would be paying the neighbor for the chickens.

4:14 p.m. – An individual reported another party threw her to the ground and took off toward the center of town. On arrival police spoke with the individual was said that she slipped. She said she just wanted the party to leave. He was gone on arrival. 

4:25 p.m. – An individual came to pick up paperwork.

4:39 p.m. – Report of a vehicle exhibiting erratic operation on Daniel Shays Highway. The individual was driving on the wrong side of the road and passing a double solid line. The area was monitored and no contact was made.

6:42 p.m. – An officer was requested for shoplifting on East Main Street. No charges were taken but the individual was trespassed from the store.

8:15 p.m. – Community policing on Water Street.

Monday, August 20

12:11 a.m. – A motor vehicle operator was stopped for failing to dim their high beams. The operator was found to be suspended. A citation was issued on Daniel Shays Highway.

1:21 a.m. – A motor vehicle operator was stopped for failing to dim their high beams on South Main Street. The operator was issued a verbal warning.

1:36 a.m. – A motor vehicle operator was stopped for having a defective exhaust on Daniel Shays Highway and given a verbal warning.

2:09 a.m. – A motor vehicle operator was stopped for having a defective headlight and given a verbal warning.

2:33 a.m. – An individual called to report wanting a party to be removed from her residence. On arrival it was found the party rents a room on Tully Road and has been staying there for two months. All were advised to stay away from each other and call it a night.
