ATHOL — The Athol Golden Age Club’s final 2018 trip on November 30, which was planned by the late Jean McNally, was a successful but bittersweet remembrance in honor of the organizer. From the Oakwood Christmas Barn in Spencer to the Salem Cross Inn in West Brookfield to the Hardwick Vineyard and Winery on the way home, everyone was grateful for a well-planned excursion.

The Club’s traditional Christmas turkey luncheon, served by Dan Carr and his team, with entertainment by pianist Renee Lake-Gagliardi followed by a Christmas sing-along, will be held at the Athol Senior Center, Lord Pond Plaza, at noon on Monday, Dec. 17 (with a snow date set for Tuesday, Dec. 18). Members are encouraged to invite a guest and should make their reservations by calling Judy Rowe at 978-575-0464 not later than Sunday, Dec. 9.

There will be no meeting in January, but the first meeting of 2019 will be on Monday, Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. This is the fourth Monday, not the usual third Monday, due to the Martin Luther King Holiday. This is a very important re-organizational meeting because of the passing of President Jean McNally and Vice President Jane McGuirk in 2018.

The Athol Golden Age Club welcomes men and women in the North Quabbin, 55, and up who are interested in “re-creation” through challenging programs, friendship through regular meetings with new, diverse and interesting folks, and leisure activities such as the popular one-day senior trips to parts known and unknown.
