5 p.m. — Community Meal at the Athol Congregational Church, 1225 Chestnut St., Athol. (Chicken marsala, with homemade soup to start). Doors open at 5 for coffee and soup. Meal sponsored by Dean’s Beans. Music by Doc Arsenault. Reservations and info: 978-249-6202.

Friday, January 4

6:30 p.m. — Special First Friday Film: "Encounters at the End of the World" a documentary by acclaimed filmmaker Werner Herzog. On the big screen in the reading room at the Wheeler Memorial Library, Grove Street doors open at 6:15, 49 East Main St, Orange. 978-544-2495.
