ORANGE — The Wheeler Memorial Library project is currently 12th on the state list for funding, and moving up the list quickly.

This opportunity for the town of Orange could come up in the next few grant cycles, and officials say they want to be ready.

The town has a schematic design (still open for input), a designer and some funds raised to offset cost to the town. The current plan is to expand and improve the current building, making it accessible for all, upgrading the children’s area, the teen space, adding a community room and improving the health, viability and integrity of the library and the many free services available to the community.

The town is looking for citizens interested advocating for the library in its outreach efforts; folks to join sub-committees; people who want to submit ideas, input, energy and donations.

Meetings are now held at Fisher Hill School on the fourth Thursday of each month, with exceptions for holidays. Meetings run from 6 to 8 p.m., the Building Committee meeting runs 6 to 7 p.m. and Library Trustee meetings follow from 7 to 8.

Upcoming meeting dates for the year will be:

<sbull value="sbull"><text xmlns="urn:schemas-teradp-com:gn4tera"></text></sbull>Oct. 25, Nov. 29 (moved due to holiday), Dec. 20 (moved due to holiday), Jan. 24, Feb. 28, March 28, April 25, May 23, June 27, July 25 and Aug. 22.
