Thursday: Eat at Wendy’s for Athol H.S. senior class

ATHOL — The Athol High School Class of 2021 encourages readers to eat at Wendy’s of Athol every first Thursday of the month. You just have to mention the “Senior Class Funddraiser” at the time you pay and a portion of the proceeds goes to the class.

Saturday: AHSBottle and Can Drive

ATHOL — The Athol High School Class of 2021 Redeemable Bottle and Can Drive is held every first Saturday of the month at the Kessler Investments parking lot, 2070 Main St., from 9 a.m. to noon. Bring only Massachusetts-redeemable bottles and cans. No water, Gatorade-like or New Hampshire bottles and cans will be accepted. Labor Day Weekend: Appleseed Country Fair

PHILLIPSTON — The Appleseed Country Fair will be coming back during Labor Day weekend following a year hiatus due to the pandemic. The fair will be held on Saturday, Sept. 4, through Monday, Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at Red Apple Farm, 455 Highland Avenue, Phillipston. Enjoy three stages of music and entertainment, local food and drink, and local craft vendors. Admission: $15 per car with proceeds to benefit the Athol Fire Department, Phillipston Fire Department and the Johnny Appleseed Trail Association. Visit for more information.

Sept. 7: VFW Post 650 to meet

ATHOL — VFW Post 650 will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. in the DAV Hall at 47 Pine St., Athol. Face masks are recommended. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month.

Sept. 11-12: Civil War reenactment and Military History Expo

PHILLIPSTON — The 7th Tennessee Unit will present a Civil War Reenactment as part of the Military History Expo, 555 Highland Avenue, Phillipston, Sept. 11-12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The reenactment will feature an encampment and a battle between the Union and Confederate armies. Sept. 14: ‘Making a Mystery’

ATHOL — “Making a Mystery” is coming to the Athol Public Library, 568 Main St., on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. Audience participation is encouraged, as four local authors create a mystery in real time. Participants suggest character names, settings, motives and murder weapons and the authors incorporate some of the suggestions into the ongoing story. The authors will also discuss how they choose character names, establish a setting and construct a story. The event is offered both live and via Zoom, so that all can participate.
