Dec. 16: North Quabbin Garden Club

ATHOL — The North Quabbin Garden Club will hold its annual Christmas gathering on Thursday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. Participants will be making festive swag: bring wire, cutters, greens, decorations, ribbons. Greens will be provided and participants are welcome to bring some, too. No extra charge. Millers River Environmental Center, 100 Main St., Athol.

Dec. 18: Caroling at Veterans Park

ATHOL — The Athol Seventh-day Adventist church would like to invite one and all to a season of renewed peace and joy. Come and enjoy Christmas caroling on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Veteran’s Park, 101 Main St.

Dec. 18: All-day Bird Count

Dec. 18: Christmas Bird Count Tally and virtual Party (or in person at MREC)

Join members of the Athol Bird and Nature Club as they find out the preliminary results of the Annual Christmas Bird Count. An informal group discussion and meeting. Find out what unusual birds were seen during the day’s count.

You are invited to a Zoom meeting. When: Dec 18, 2021 5 p.m.

Dec. 22: Holiday movie matinee

WINCHENDON — On Wednesday, Dec. 22, at 1:30 p.m., the Beals Memorial Liberary will be celebrating the holidays with a special showing of “It’s a Wonderful Life.” So, if you’d like a chance to catch this Hollywood classic on the big screen, then grab some popcorn and head to the Winchendon library.

The library is located at 50 Pleasant St. in Winchendon. All movies at the library are free and open to the public. Movies are shown in the library auditorium and anyone entering the building must wear a mask. For more information, contact the library at 978-297-0300 or visit their website at bealslibrary.org.

Jan. 15: Winter Wildlife Tracking Workshop

ATHOL — Join expert tracker Paul Wanta Skyfields Arboretum in Athol on Saturday, Jan. 15, from 9 a.m. to noon, to learn how to track animals during the winter at Mount Grace’s annual Winter Wildlife Tracking Workshop.

Wanta will lead the group in exploring the trails of the open meadows and the woods of Skyfields Arboretum while looking for signs of wildlife. At the end of this workshop, participants will have a basic understanding of how to spot, identify, and interpret different tracks found during the winter season.

This event is open to the public, free to Mount Grace members and $10 for non-members. Registration is required. Please register at bit.ly/3DyxjB2.
