ATHOL — Rachel McMahon will be joining the staff of the Massachusetts House of Representatives as legislative aide to Representative Susannah M. Whipps (I-Athol) effective Sept. 05. Whipps’ current legislative aide, Melissa Eaton, has accepted the Executive Director position at North Quabbin Chamber of Commerce. “Although, I am sad to see Missi move on, I’m very excited for her as she embarks on this new opportunity to serve the region,” said Rep Whipps.

McMahon obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology through the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She then secured a position with Help Roads in Brooklyn, New York as a Domestic Violence Counselor until she returned to Massachusetts in 2015.

McMahon has spent the last five years expanding her clinical and advocacy skills through her position as a Social Worker II for The Department of Children and Families in a focus of permanency through adoption.

“Rachel’s background makes her an excellent fit to serve the constituents of the Second Franklin District” said Whipps. “Over the years I have known Rachel to be compassionate, well-organized and committed to her community. I’m very excited to have her join my office.”

McMahon will staff the representative’s Athol office, located at 352 Main St. She can be reached by phone at (978) 895-9606.

Rep. Whipps, of the 2nd Franklin District, serves the towns of Athol, Belchertown (A), Erving, Gill, New Salem, Orange, Petersham, Phillipston, Royalston Templeton, Warwick and Wendell.
