PETERSHAM – Whether you’re a fashionista or simply someone looking for a holiday gift idea, Petersham is the place to be this weekend. On Sunday, the Clamber Hill Inn & Restaurant will serve as the venue for a fashion show featuring a selection of items from Maurice’s. The nationwide women’s clothing retailer will be showing off fashions and other items available at its store at North Quabbin Commons in Athol.

Deni Ellis, co-owner of Clamber Hill, has been organizing the event, which takes place Sunday, Dec. 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. She said this year’s fashion show grew out of a Business After Hours event held last year. Both Maurice’s and Clamber Hill are members of the North Quabbin Chamber of Commerce.

“So, the Chamber asked us if would help Maurice’s out,” said Ellis, “and we did a fall fashion show here. Everybody really liked it, and Maurice’s was really happy with it. So, in September they asked me if we would be willing to work together with them again, but they wanted to do a holiday fashion show.”

Maurice’s will have models at the restaurant modeling their clothes, and will have some small items – like perfumes, lotions, and jewelry – that can be bought that day via cash sales.

Said Ellis, “There are computers here. If people want to shop online that day, they can. Or, if people just want to get an idea of what’s available and then make a trip into the store, they can do that, too.”

Admission to the event is $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Clamber Hill is providing the food, and the $20 admission covers the food and one beverage – beer, wine, or soda. They will also be running a cash bar.

“It’s not women only,” Ellis stressed. “If guys want to come and figure out what they want to get their wives for Christmas, we’d love to have them. We had some gentlemen last year who were shopping for their sisters or their wives.”

Ellis said planning for the event started in early October.

While Clamber Hill has only two employees, Ellis said, Maurice’s will be there with their full staff. “They’re going to leave a skeleton staff at the store, and then they’ll have the rest of their staff here to give fashion advice or help with shopping,” she said.

Ellis explained that models will be getting dressed upstairs at the inn, will descend the stairs, and will continue to a catwalk in the library. She also added that Clamber Hill will “be decked out in holiday decorations.” In addition to items from Maurice’s, Clamber Hill gift certificates will also be available, along with schedules for upcoming 2020 events at the facility.

Tickets for the event are available at Clamber Hill, at the Clamber Hill Facebook page, or online at eventbrite.com. The Clamber Hill Inn & Restaurant is located at 111 North Main St.
