ATHOL — Tool Town bingo buffs may be happy to learn that the Athol Senior Center will resume its weekly Bingo Social program beginning Tuesday, March 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the center, 82 Freedom St.. Through fundraising efforts, the Friends of the Athol Council on Aging purchased the new Bingo equipment which will be used at the center.

The game room doors will open at 12:45.

According to Cathy Savoy, Council on Aging Director, “Bingo is more than just a fun and exciting activity it is especially beneficial for seniors. Playing bingo regularly enhances coordination and reflexes, stimulates cognitive function, encourages physical health through laughter and relaxation as well as providing opportunities for socialization.”

Beginners as well as seasoned players are welcome to the center to join in on the fun and the game of chance. The games will be facilitated by designated volunteers.

“We’ll see how it goes,” said Savoy, “it’s a “soft” opening on Tuesday. We’ll see what works and take it from there.”
