First ‘Paws and Pints’ event Aug. 24 at the Brew Barn

PHILLIPSTON – Dakin Humane Society, the Brew Barn and Moon Hill Brewing Co., will host the first annual Paws and Pints, a kid-friendly end of summer event where the whole family and is invited, including dogs.

The event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, rain or shine, at the Brew Barn at Red Apple Farm, 455 Highland Ave.

There will be many activities for both humans and dogs, including a dogs-only Peanut Butter Licking Contest, Tie-dye a doggie bandana, face painting, pet caricatures by artist Laurie Tisdale-Andruss, a raffle, local vendors, pick-your-own fruit, photos and walking trails.

Also onsite will be Red Apple Farm’s rescued farm animals and lawn games for humans. A local trainer will provide a 10-minute nose work or agility session for the pups.

Adult tickets are $20 and include a complimentary beer (must be age 21 and up). Kids are $10, children under 10 are free, and both include one free hayride.

Moon Hill Brewing Co. will serve beer in the Brew Barn. Food will be available from the on-site barbecue pit and the Zapata Cucina food truck, and cider donuts, ice cream, fudge and other items will be available in the farm’s country store.

The Brew Barn will be open until 8 p.m. with live music from 4 to 7 p.m.
