WARWICK — The Quabbin Harvest Food Co-op of Orange will hold a fundraising auction at the Warwick Town Hall, 12 Athol Road, on Friday, Nov. 9 starting at 6 p.m. to benefit the work of the co-op in the local food and farm economy.

Items to be auctioned were donated by members and supporters of the co-op and reflect the talents and skills of local artists, artisans, food producers, and others. They include custom-cooked meals, cooking lessons, meat bundles and a Thanksgiving vegetable box as well as handmade serving items. Fine artwork and crafts are included on the list, along with locally-produced compost for the garden, a one year disc golf membership, and therapeutic massage, reiki, and Ayurvedic sessions with local practitioners. There will also be an opportunity to bid on two tickets to Michelle Obama’s Nov. 24 appearance at the TD Garden in Boston.

The event will start at 6 p.m. with food, beer and wine, music by local musician Carolyn Salls, and a silent auction. The live auction will start at 7 p.m.

Ingrid Schatz, owner of The Dance Studio of Orange and a Quabbin Harvest board member, is an organizer of the Nov. 9 auction. She says, “This will be a really fun night out with your neighbors and a chance to do some early holiday shopping while keeping your dollars local.”

Quabbin Harvest was founded in 2009 and moved to the former Workers Credit Union building at 12 North Main St. in Orange in 2014. The co-op is owned by its 700 members. It emphasizes fresh, local, and healthy food options that support area food producers as well as bringing a grocery store into the center of Orange. The store is open six days a week.
