Letter: Keeping Main Street beautiful

A big thank you to Ann Wilhite, owner of the Deja Vu Womens’ Consignment Shop, for her diligence in helping to keep downtown Athol clean, as shown in the front page photo in the June 2 Athol Daily News. I wish all of Athol’s residents were so caring. I love the flowers that she has planted at the base of the tree in front of her business, too.

The plants at the base of some of the other trees on Main Street look beautiful, too, and the McMannis flower boxes look great. We need to have the four dead trees in front of the Athol Savings Bank removed to make things look much better.

I agree that it is so distressing to see cups and cans, etc. so casually tossed along the sides of the streets, not just Main Street. It really is disgusting. I wish we could impress upon people to dispose of their trash responsibly.
