ATHOL — Valuing Our Children, Inc., located at 217 Walnut St., is among the agencies to be awarded a Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Grant for Fiscal Year 2020.

Senator Anne M. Gobi (D-Spencer) and members of the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) made the announcement Thursday.

Senator Gobi said, “I am proud to support and advocate for funding the EEC. I have visited these local sites and seen first-hand the positive impact and difference they have on families and their children, and I will continue to support measures that ensure these groups can continue to provide quality services for our area.”

The following agencies serving constituents in Senator Gobi’s district will be receiving funds:

— Ashburnham-Westminster Regional School District, $100,951;

— The Collaborative for Educational Services in Northampton, $502,563

— The Montachusett Opportunity Council in Barre, $290,041

— Spencer Child Care, $94,500

— The Town of Brimfield, $59,091

— Valuing Our Children, Inc., $105,181.

This grant program goes toward providing families with access to locally-available comprehensive services and supports that strengthen families, promote optimal child development, and bolster school readiness. The grants are for a one year period and the award amounts are subject to appropriation in the FY20 state budget.
