PHILLIPSTON — Memorial Day services will be held on Sunday, May 26. The parade will form around the Town Common at 8:45 a.m. The order of the march is as follows: Marshal David Bramhall, honor guard, wreath bearer, Selectboard, distinguished guests, veterans and veteran auxiliaries, Narragansett High School Band, fire department, police department, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.

The honor guard and bugler will enter the cemetery and all others will remain on the street.

At 9 a.m. the ceremony will begin with an invocation offered by Deacon Gerry Gariepy.

Veterans’ names will be read, followed by the placing of the wreath, firing squad, color guard, and playing of “Taps.” The Narragansett Regional School Band will play “The Star Spangled Banner,” with Bobby Rathbone directing.

The assembly will march back to the common for the placement of the wreath and brief ceremony. Selectboard Chairman John Telepciak will give the welcome address; and Senator Anne M. Gobi and State Representative Susannah Whipps will speak. Guest speaker is James Buzzell.

The school band will again play the national anthem and graduating seniors will be recognized.

The benediction will be offered by Deacon Peter Haley. Light refreshments will be served on the church lawn following the program, courtesy of the Supporters of the Memorial Day Program. In the event of bad weather, the Marshal will announce any changes.
