Senior Health Fair Wednesday in Athol

ATHOL — The Council on Aging and Athol Hospital will host a senior health fair on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Senior Center, 82 Freedom St.

The event is open to the public. Blood pressure screenings will be available, along with balance testing and other health information.

Organizations scheduled to participate to date include several departments from the hospital, occupational physical therapy, the Athol Area YMCA, Quabbin Valley Healthcare, the Gardner Visiting Nurse Association, LifePath Inc, SHINE (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone), D’Ambrosio Eye Care, NaviCare and Summit ElderCare (programs of Fallon), Heywood Wakefield Commons, Broadway Assisted Living, Applewood Home for Elders, Friends of the Athol Council on Aging, North Quabbin Patch (Grandparents Raising Grandchildren), the Consumer Protection Unit from the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, the Community Health Center of Franklin County, Veteran’s Services, Athol Board of Health, the Athol Fire Department and Attorney Lynette Goodnow, among others.

There will be a complimentary lunch provided by the Friends of the Athol Council on Aging at noon in the senior café. The menu includes chicken piccata, rosemary roasted potatoes, tossed salad, Italian bread and fresh fruit. Reservations are required by calling 978-249-8986 no later than 10 a.m. today.
