Margaret E. Lundquist
ATHOL — Margaret E. Lundquist, 94, of Petersham, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, in Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol.
Margaret was born in Petersham on Aug. 6, 1923, daughter of the late Frederick W. Waid and the late Alice L. (Goodell) Waid. She was the youngest of six children. Brothers Charles, Marshall, Lee, Lloyd Waid (twins) and her sister Nellie Anderson have all preceded her in death. Her husband, Ralph P. Lundquist, also preceded her in death in 1989.
She is survived by two sons, Ralph L. Lundquist of Athol and Michael G. Lundquist and wife Mary Jo Lundquist of Petersham; and one grandson, Miles Stone Lundquist.
Margaret was an active member of the Petersham Grange, Saint Peters’ Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, family, friends and gardening, especially her flower gardens. She was always up for an adventure whether it was skiing, boating, fishing or even para-sailing. She rarely said no to a new experience. Margaret was known for her quiet demeanor, a loving smile and her exceptional kindness to others. She loved being around people and thought only the best of them. She had many names Ma, Mom, Auntie, Grandma and Aunt Margaret. Each name had a special meaning for those who called out to her. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew her.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, at 11:30 a.m., in Gethsemane Cemetery, Fielding Way, Athol.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Athol High School Scholarship Association for the Greg Stone Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 338, Athol, MA 01331.
