Larry A. Barnes
SANTA MARIA, Calif. — Larry Alan Barnes, 59, passed away on Oct. 11, 2015, in Santa Maria, Calif.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1955, in Greenfield, to Bernard and Thelma (Richardson) Barnes.
Larry grew up in Orange. He attended school at Mahar Regional High School. His primary trade throughout his life was as a private contracting painter. His lifelong hobbies included fishing, flying RC airplanes with Tri-Valley RC Modelers, playing in pool and dart tournaments, and most recently go-carting at the Santa Maria Carting Association. He was a member of the Calvery Chapel in Santa Maria as well as the Elks Club.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife Tammy, parents Bernard and Thelma, and brother David.
Larry is survived by his young children, Tiffany, 15, and Mathew, 9, of Los Alamos, Calif.; as well as two adult children from a previous marriage, Alanna Barnes and her husband Joshua Burke of Sandwich, Mass., and Joshua Barnes and his partner Denise Miller of Dallas, Texas; grandson Jonah Burke; siblings Ralph and his wife Louella of Sevierville, Tenn., Thomas and his wife Sherry of Orange, Calvin and his wife Lynn of Vernon, Vt., Loretta Bergquist of Orange, Gloria Zbikowski and her husband David of Bear Creek, Pa., and Malcolm and his wife Barbara of Orange; and many nephews and nieces and a large extended family.
A celebration of his life was held at Calvery Chapel in Santa Maria on Friday, Oct. 23. A memorial service will be held in Massachusetts at the family’s discretion.
