ORANGE — Funeral services were held on Thursday morning, Jan. 28, 2016, at Witty’s Funeral Home in Orange for Donna A. Hutchinson, 53, of East Main Street, who died Saturday, Jan. 23, after being stricken ill at home.

The Rev. Dr. Megan Leary of the Orange Central Congregational Church officiated and a reading was done by granddaughter, Chloe Hutchinson. Interment followed in South Cemetery, Orange. The bearers were Dondi Mitchell, Leo Bermudez, Christopher Divoll, Thomas Longtine, Craig Wonkka and Ron Cormier. 

Following the committal service, a reception was held at Hope Lodge in Gardner.

Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange, was honored with directing the arrangements.

ORANGE — Donna A. Hutchinson, 53, of East Main Street, died unexpectedly at home on Jan. 23, 2016, after being stricken ill.

Born in Lewiston, Maine, on Aug. 30, 1962, she was a daughter of James W. and Claire (Richard) Hutchinson and moved to Connecticut early in life before moving to Orange, where she graduated from Ralph C. Mahar Regional School with the class of 1982.

Donna had been with her loving companion, Craig Wonkka, for 10 years.

A CNA, Donna had worked for Baldwinville Nursing and Rehabilitation and Quabbin Valley Healthcare before going into private care.

Donna was a strong, single mom with a heart of gold who enjoyed helping others. Her love for her family was enormous and she especially loved her grandchildren.

Besides time with her family, which included trips to Maine, Donna enjoyed bonfires in the backyard, and anything with being “green” and peaceful. Donna had an abundance of compassion for people and everyone enjoyed her smile.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather who raised her, Claire and Donald Ashton of Springfield; a daughter, Sarah Hutchinson of Baldwinville; grandchildren, Chole Hutchinson and Dannielle Walat, both of Baldwinville; her companion, Craig Wonkka of Orange; sisters, Brenda Sylvester and her husband, David, of Orange, Maureen Johnson and her husband, Arthur “Opie,” of Erving, and Susan Ashton of Springfield; as well as aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces; and two very close friends, Barbara Sylvester and Julie Carey Potwin.

Donna was predeceased by her father, James, as well as a sister, Karen Ashton.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral services will be held on Jan. 28, at 11 a.m., at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange, with the Rev. Dr. Megan Leary of the Orange Central Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.

Following the interment, a celebration of Donna’s life will be held at Hope Lodge, 42 Central St., in Gardner.
