ORANGE — Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 05, 2018 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Orange for June B. (McKaig) Webster, 81, who died Dec. 27, 2017 at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester. Rev. Richard Olson officiated and Deb Kent was the organist. Granddaughter, Erica LeBrun, read the eulogy and her husband, Scott LeBrun, shared stories of the family camp. Interment followed in South Cemetery, Orange. The bearers were Gabe Murphy, Chad Blackbird, Ryan LeBrun, Scott LeBrun, Curtis Fournier and Timm Phillips. Following the committal service, a reception was held at the Orange American Legion on Daniel Shays Highway. Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange, was honored with directing the arrangements.
ORANGE — June B. (McKaig) Webster, 81, of West River Street, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester and is now peacefully with her Lord.
Born in Providence, R.I., on Aug. 14, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Robert F. and Betty (Franson) McKaig and grew up in Providence and graduated from Central High School. June has remained friends with many of her classmates from school.
In 1955, June married Lewis E. Webster after being introduced to him by his cousin Beverly who thought they would make a perfect couple. They enjoyed 35 years of marriage until Lewis’ death on May 25, 1990. During their marriage, June helped with Lewis’ plumbing and heating business doing the office work.
June had a heart of gold and loved her family, friends and her community as a whole. She enjoyed pitching in at Johnson’s Farm Restaurant (or as she affectionately called it, “the stand”) as well as helping with their annual community Thanksgiving meal.
A longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Orange, June participated in many activities of the church as well as taught Sunday School.
June had been a Brownie Scout leader with 32 girls in her troop. She also was a lifetime member of the Orange Historical Society and had helped with many fundraisers.
June loved her Thursday girls’ get togethers for lunch and card playing, dining out, but mostly time with her family, especially at her camp in Vermont. A wonderful cook, June made sure family and friends were always well fed. June had also enjoyed trips to Foxwoods with DeDe, Deb and Sherry.
June will be sadly missed by her daughters, Debbie Webster-Prevost and her husband Roger of Amherst, N.H., and Diane “DeDe” Johnson and her husband Stephen of Orange; grandchildren, Gabe and Stacy Murphy, Meghan Romani and her husband Scott, Erica LeBrun and her husband Scott, and Mandy Blackbird and her husband Chad; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Gracie, Jason, Ryan, Mia, and Colby; a sister, Cheryl Ames and her husband Michael of North Kingston, R.I.; and many dear friends.
Besides her parents and husband, June was predeceased by two brothers, Robert McKaig and Donald McKaig.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Jan. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m., at Bethany Lutheran Church, 62 Cheney St., Orange.
Interment will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.
