CONTINUE THE TRADITION

Editor, Daily News

The headline in the Athol Daily News on Dec. 20, 2017 saddens me greatly. During my short time here in Athol, 1 1/2 years, I have become accustomed to your wonderful and necessary daily paper. Your staff to include: reporters, editor, classified, counter people, printers, circulation and delivery are outstanding. They are key members of our community. Athol is emerging as a vibrant and desirable community once again.

You and your family have dedicated your lives to one of our most basic and necessary tenants of democracy, freedom of the press. I am hopeful that Newspapers of New England will continue the tradition of keeping people aware, informed and connected to their communities. I wish you and our community a very safe and Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Sincerely

Russell T. Kleber,

Athol Chief of Police
