ATHOL — Mark M. Ainsworth, 61, resident of Athol for most of his life, unexpectedly passed away peacefully on Monday, June 5, at his home in Athol.

Mark was the son of the late George M. and Iva F. Ainsworth. He was born in Athol on Dec. 6, 1955. He graduated from Athol High School in the class of 1973. Mark was an avid sports fan of the New England professional teams, especially the Boston Red Sox. He often attended games at Fenway Park with his brother. He was an accomplished on-line chess player and enjoyed bike riding in his younger days along the highways of New England.

Mark is survived by a brother, David W. Lucier (Sheelah), of Niskayuna, N.Y. Mark was a kind, gentle person, who will be greatly missed by his family. He was extremely well-read and an expert on many subjects.
