GVNA HealthCare reflects on 2015 accomplishments at annual meeting

GARDNER — GVNA HealthCare held its annual meeting on Tuesday, March 22, at the Colonial Hotel in Gardner. According to Elaine Fluet, President and CEO, this year’s meeting was a celebration of the accomplishments and growth of the agency in 2015, as well as an opportunity to acknowledge and thank employees, board members and volunteers for their unwavering dedication. GVNA honored Dr. Daniel Asquino, President of Mount Wachusett Community College, for his contribution to the health and well-being of the greater Gardner community. Throughout his 29 years as college president, Dr. Asquino has partnered with GVNA on countless initiatives.

“In 2015, our agency achieved a 6 percent growth in patients served,” said Fluet. “As part of that growth, Homecare and Hospice provided 59,160 nursing visits to patients. Our rehabilitation therapists made 17,868 visits. GVNA ranks higher than state and national averages in each publicly reported patient satisfaction measure, achieving a five star rating. We are strategically positioned to continue to provide exceptional service to our growing community,” she said, adding, “We are totally focused on patient care.”

“One of our greatest achievements this year was to implement a Lean culture in our agency,” Fluet noted. “In October, 2015, a group of 51 employees representing management, clinical and office staff began a 16-week intense training to learn the skills that would take us into the next 100 years. An additional 70 employees completed an introductory Lean course,” she said. “It has been exciting to see how we can achieve more efficiencies while maintaining the quality of our services,” she added.

“As chairman of the board, I and my fellow directors congratulate the employees on their 110th anniversary,” said Andrew Boucher. “GVNA’s success will continue as the employees and the volunteer board work together to adapt to the changing healthcare environment. We will always keep our commitment to quality care and patient satisfaction,” he said.

GVNA HealthCare Board of Directors for 2015 included Jeff Aubuchon, Boucher, Peter Erickson, John Flick, Michael Gerry, Brian Jette, Heather Layton, Edward Manzi Jr., Nancy Monette, Debbie Orre, Enrico Palmerino, Tina Santos and Ken Tomasetti. Officers were Boucher, chair; Ken Tomasetti, vice chair; Michael Gerry, treasurer; and Layton, secretary.

“We have a dedicated group of directors who are committed to the mission and values of our agency,” said Fluet. “We have accomplished so much throughout the year and this would not have been possible without these community members who volunteer their time and expertise to our board of directors.”

Several GVNA employees were recognized at the annual meeting for their years of service to the agency. Employees recognized for five years of service include Joanne Bengrazi, Karen Culkeen, Alisha Griffin, Tina Homon, Nancy Hume, Susan Kemp, Vera Moraes, Nancy Morse, Krystal Sanderson, Theresa Saveall, Tina Schryver and Marlene Thebeau. Donna Bourgeois, Kelly Loescher, Crystal Marsh, Louise Smith and Jamie Talbot were recognized for 10 years.
