SCITUATE HARBOR — Gertrude (Hause) Wood, age 100, of Scituate Harbor, formerly of Orange, died peacefully on Dec. 27, 2015, at the Life Care Center South Shore in Scituate.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dexter A. Wood. She leaves a son, Dexter E. Wood and his wife Joanne of Scituate Harbor. She also leaves four grandchildren, Dexter E. Wood Jr. and his wife Susan of Vienna, Va., Tammy Wood of Venice, Calif., Michele Wood of Scituate Harbor, and James Wood and his wife Cindy of Long Island, N.Y.
She additionally leaves six great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Claudia and Ethan Wood of Vienna, Va.; and Bailey, Drew and Parker Gorton of Scituate Harbor; and several nephews and nieces.
She was a graduate of Athol High School. With her husband Dexter she operated the former Orange Clothing Company for many years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of the First Universalist Church and had served on several church committees. She especially enjoyed the summer season at her cottage on Lake Mattawa with her many relatives and friends.
A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in South Cemetery, Orange.
