ORANGE — Funeral services were held on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at Witty’s Funeral Home in Orange for Laura A. (LaFlamme) Parsons, 81, formerly of Shelter Street, who died on Dec. 24, 2015, at Genesis Applewood Healthcare in Winchester, N.H.


Lt. Michael Buzzard of the Athol Salvation Army celebrated the service and Capt. Elliott Higgins played the guitar.


Interment followed in South Cemetery, Orange, with the bearers Shelby Sawin, Cody Sawin, Mike Sawin, Gerry Parsons, Sam Parsons and Kyle Sawin.


After the committal service, a reception was held at the Athol Salvation Army.


Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange, was honored with directing the arrangements.

ORANGE — Laura A. (LaFlamme) Parsons, 81, formerly of Shelter Street, died on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015, at Genesis Applewood Healthcare in Winchester, N.H.

Born in Manchester, N.H., on Oct. 19, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Marie (Carter) LaFlamme and had lived in the Athol-Orange area most of her life, attending schools in Athol.

Laura was married to Gordon F. Parsons for 41 years until his death on June 15, 1996.

For a number of years, Laura has been a soldier of the Salvation Army in Athol, serving as Home League Treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and for many years as Sunbeam Leader.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and cherished time spent with her family. She also loved her cats, and Gospel music.

Survivors include her son, Daniel S. Parsons and his wife, Eunice, of Athol; a daughter, Joy D. Sawin and her husband, Michael, of Athol; five grandchildren, Cody Sawin, Kyle Sawin, Shelby Sawin, Joli Parsons and Samuel Parsons; a brother, Alfred LaFlamme of Athol; and a sister, Irene (Bunny) Hitt of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

Laura was predeceased by her stepmother, Vera LaFlamme, a sister, Eleanor Blanchard, and brothers, Charles LaFlamme and Wilfred LaFlamme Sr.

A calling hour will be held on Dec. 31, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange.

A funeral service will be held at Witty’s Funeral Home in Orange at 11 a.m., on Dec. 31, with Lt. Michael Buzzard of the Athol Salvation Army officiating.

Interment will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.
