Athol Daily News launches 68th annual Athol Santa Fund drive today

The Athol Daily News Santa Fund is launching its 68th year with a goal of $13,500 for 2015. Since 1947, the fund has ensured that hundreds of youngsters in the area have a happy holiday season. With the aid of generous donors in the community, and the help of hundreds of volunteers over the years, the Athol Santa Fund helps many children awaken to the wonder of Christmas.

The fund volunteers deliver gifts to 400 to 600 local children in need each and every year. When the Jolly Old Elf and his helpers load up with toys for Athol youngsters, for ages 13 and younger, you may see them stopping at a neighbor’s home. You’ll know that without your gift, whatever the denomination, those children you see every day might have gone without a gift on Christmas morning. Donations large and small all add up to provide for the children in the Athol area.

A donation to the Santa Fund is the feel-good gift of the season. It’s the perfect gift to yourself to get into that festive holiday spirit. It’s the ideal gift for a hard-to-buy-for family member. Best of all, a gift to the Santa Fund makes a beautiful memorial to a loved one.

Donations may be dropped off at the Athol Daily News office at 225 Exchange St., or mailed to: Athol Daily News Santa Fund, P.O. Box 1000, Athol, Mass., 01331.

New this year, donations may be made with a click of your mouse right on our website at the convenient, safe and secure “gofundme” panel. https://www.gofundme.com/santafund
