Senators sink Smith for 2-0 win
ORANGE — The Mahar boys’ soccer team secured a 2-0 victory over Smith Academy, Thursday night.
After a scoreless first half, Owen Cook broke the tie by converting a pass from Pedro Mattos with 15 minutes to play. Mattos added an insurance goal with Jack Temple registering the assist.
Bryce Cleveland recorded four saves to pick up his third shutout of the week. He’s held the opposition scoreless on 11 occasions this fall.
The win was the 13th of the season for the Senators who improved to 13-1-3 overall. Mahar closes its regular season with a visit from rival Athol tonight. The contest will be the Senators third in as many nights and fourth of the week. The two teams battled to a 2-2 draw back on Sept. 18.
