ROYALSTON — Town Hall will host An Evening with Naturalist, Photographer and Writer Aaron Ellison on Friday at 7 p.m.

Ellison will discuss his book, “Vanishing Point,” a series of photographs, poetry and prose, which he created as part of the Ecological Reflections Program that took place in Oregon. A variety of topics about ecology, writing and life were covered there.

Ellison is the senior research fellow in ecology at Harvard Forest, an adjunct research professor in the Tropical Forests & People Research Center at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia.

He is also adjunct research professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

The author of numerous papers and books, Ellison is known around the library in Royalston for his summer reading program on ants and for his identification book, “A Field Guide to the Ants of New England” (2012).

His blog, “The Unbalanced Ecologist,” gives free rein to his writings about ecology, woodworking, bicycling, blogging and his travels — in the past year he has visited all seven continents.

Along with slides, a variety of refreshments provided by the Friends of the Phinehas S. Newton Library will be served. The library is sponsoring the event.
