ATHOL — The Athol girls’ varsity basketball team led 20-18 at half over the now 13-4 Frontier Red Hawks, but a 20-12 Frontier advantage in the third quarter proved the difference on Tuesday night, as the Red Raiders fell 51-45.

The Red Raiders are now 3-12 on the year.

Destiny Wrigley and Geca Baptista shared a team-high eight points, while Haley Bigwood scored seven points and Amber Mahony and Taylor Cleveland each scored six points. Sophie Putnam and Payton Parker added five points each.

Lexa Boyden led the Red Hawks with 17 points. Ella Deane scored 10 points as well.

The Red Raiders will host the 7-8 Narragansett Warriors tonight at 6:30 p.m. The Warriors have lost two in a row and three of their last four games. They defeated Athol back on Dec. 21 during the Narragansett Holiday Hoop tournament, winning 41-35.

ORANGE — Abby Henne scored a team-high 13 points for the Mahar junior varsity girls’ basketball team in their 51-35 win over Hopkins Academy on Tuesday night. Courtney Paige and Marry Anne Prescott had 12 points each. Makayla Matherin scored five points, Siobhan Davis four and Elina Halpern-Gordon with three points and 10 rebounds. Jaydlyn Lohnes rounded out the scoring for the Senators with two points.

BALDWINVILLE—The ARMS girls’ basketball team played aggressively but ultimately did not finish around the hoop in their 34-19 to Narragansett Regional on Monday afternoon. Jenna Bonenfant finished with a team-high six points. Reily Polana and Emma Bacigalupo scored four points each, while Sarah Jaillet and Debbie Sisouk scored two points each. Christa Cucchi added one point for Athol. ARMS is now 11-4 on the year and will take on Smith Academy at home today at 5 p.m.
