Athol falls in finale

GREENFIELD — The Athol High School varsity boys’ basketball team finished their season on Monday night, losing to the Greenfield Green Wave 68-43. The Red Raiders finished their season with a 2-18 record.

Brymere Edwards led the Red Raiders with 11 points. Mark Ferrari scored nine points, while Colby Mason scored eight points, Justin Blake six, Colby Soltysik and Maysin Tarbell three each, Angel Rivera two and Evan Saisa one point.

For the Green Wave, Mason Meadows scored a game-high 17 points. Hunter Campbell scored 14 points for Greenfield, while Colin Cloutier scored 11 points and Nate Haselton 10.

The Red Raiders were outscored 18-2 by the end of the first quarter and 28-14 by halftime. Greenfield outscored Athol 26-10 in the third quarter, while the Red Raiders outscored the Green Wave 19-14 in the fourth quarter for the 68-43 final.

The Red Raiders finished their season on an eight game losing streak.

JV boys’ basketballGreenfield 50 Athol 22

GREENFIELD — The Athol High School boys’ junior varsity basketball team could only muster two points in the first quarter and four points by halftime in their 50-22 loss to Greenfield on Monday night. Nathan Heath led the Red Raiders with eight points. Casey Mason contributed four points, while Colby Soltysik and Jacob Lamarche contributed three points each. Isaac Dodge and Manny O’Lari contributed two points each.
